Accidents Can Happen
According to the National Safety Council, one in every eight drivers will be involved in a motor vehicle accident this year. That may mean you! Are you prepared? Would you know what to do and what questions to ask? An accident is such a jolt to your system, with so much going on, here are some things to keep in mind.
Stop your vehicle, if it is clear move out of the roadway.
Stay as calm as possible, breathe deeply.
Check for injuries, yourself and everyone else involved.
Turn on your hazard lights. This lets drivers behind you know there is an incident ahead.
Call the police, if injuries are involved call 911.
If the accident is minor, you may not have to call the police, but it is recommended.
Take notes, things happen quickly and it's easy to forget details.
Exchange insurance, drivers license information and phone numbers. Use the Action Accident Form as an aid.
Notify your insurance company immediately.
